His ingenious fusion of whimsical artistry and vibrant function culminate in some of the most well-recognized buildings and happy homes in downtown Santa Barbara.
El Jardin Pequeno is the two bedroom one bathroom home located on the second level of a 4-story building known as “El Jardin,” in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara. From street level, ascend the colorful steps that lead to a memorable retreat with plenty of personality. Morrocan tile, bright use of hand tooled glass, and custom wrought iron in varying shapes, are just the beginning of the signature style that makes staying at a Shelton-designed home a lively and fun experience for each and every guest.
Cozy up on the blue velvet couch for movie night in front of a large flat screen tv. Whip up a yummy meal in the super-efficient KITCHENETTE with dual burner induction cooktop, microwave, and raised bar, please note there is no oven. One of the most stunning features is the unique suspended dining table with a smooth piano finish, and an irregular whimsical shape that makes game night or mealtime amusing. Hidden away is a full-capacity front-loading washer and dryer, perfect for extended stays or to keep towels ready for the next oceanfront outing.
A sunny bedroom with a queen-size bed has the added sleeping convenience of a twin bunk bed to sleep four guests comfortably. In a second bedroom, enjoy a restful night’s sleep, or a well-deserved breakfast in bed, in the comfortable queen-size bed. From either room, enjoy mountain views over Santa Barbara's red tile roofs, or awake to sunrise casting a warm glow over the city. A shared hall bathroom completes the offerings of this cool city apartment-style retreat.
Head out the front door to explore all that Santa Barbara has to offer. Take a self-guided tour of the other Shelton-designed homes, gather organic ingredients for dinner at the local Farmer’s Market, sip tasty wines in the Funk Zone, or simply stroll over to nearby State Street, alive with energy and world-class shopping, eateries, galleries, theater and more.

Additionally available upon special request is a third bedroom suite at ground level that can accommodate two more guests. A king-size bed, television, bathroom with walk-in shower, and ample size closet appoint this private suite nicely. [Additional rates may apply]

Perfect Stay!
We stayed here for a girls trip and it was wonderful. It was comfortable and very clean .We walked everywhere and there is a delicious French bakery, Lebanese restaraunt and a great coffee cafe just around the corner. The host communicated really well and very friendly. We loved our stay here!

Great Location!!
This unit was in a great location with a short walk downtown and short drive to the beach. It was clean and easily accommodated our family of four during our short two night stay. It has a small kitchen and cooktop perfect for a light breakfast before heading out but probably not condusive to cooking full meals. We also had trouble accessing the washer/dryer, which wasn't a big deal for our short stay. I would recommend this as a unique and comfortable place to stay if you plan to have most meals out on the town, which you totally should because the food and atmosphere is great!

Absolutley Loved the Property & Location!!!
Absolutely loved the property and location. At first, I thought we were far from everything. But found a delicious coffee shop, Handlebar, a fabulous breakfast and pastry shop, Alessia's, and a great Mexican restaurant La Playa Azul all within 600 feet. And State Street is just a little further!! Would absolutely stay here again! Michele's communication is fantastic!

Convenient Location!
I received text notifying us that we can check in early free of charge. This has been a big help as we checked another airbnb and had no place to go. The place is very nice, with interesting wood furniture and nice decor. The kitchen is more of a kitchenette with an electronic hot plate. We couldn't cook like before so we had to eat out every meal. Location is very convenient.

Stay Here!!
We had a wonderful stay here. Very easy walk to shops and restaurants. Longer but do-able walk to the beach. House was beautiful-so unique. Every day we stepped out tourists were taking pictures of it. Fun to see similar building around SB. This is a fantastic unique/quiet beautiful/funky home with a variety of options depending on your group size. Stay here!

Fantastic downtown location!
Fantastic downtown location. We (2 couples) were very comfortable, even though we stayed during an unusual Santa Barbara heat wave. Short walk to every Santa Barbara attraction. Well-appointed apartment with plenty of space. Overall, a great place to stay.

It was such a joy coming home to El Jardin everyday!
El Jardin was such a joy to stay out! I celebrated my birthday weekend in SB and could not imagine staying anywhere else. The location was superb- we enjoyed morning walks to get coffee and shopping nearby! It was such a joy coming back to this home after long days exploring the city and beach.

Close walk to the excitement on State St!
Nestled in a beautiful location in Santa Barbara, the Jacaranda tree diagonal to the apartment will greet you in the morning. Close walk to the excitement on State St and some lovely neigborhood eateries. Comfy beds, washer and dryer that i missed when I returned to NYC and so many artistic details sprinkled about the place.

This is a great two bedroom for a nice weekend in SB! We had two couples and it was perfect. Extremely steam and well designed. Walkable to State street as well as many restaurants and cafes even closer. We loved the unique designs and it was a great place. Highly recommend!

The beds could not be more comfortable. The velvet couch was a dream. Very close walk to both State Street and the beach. We had a ton of fun staying here and visiting Santa Barbara.

Great apartment in a perfect location - 2 minutes walk from downtown and from great cafes and 15 minutes walk to the beach - we didn't use our car for 4 days. The apartment is lovely - clean, spacious and beautifully designed. We had everything we needed, just note there is no oven in the kitchen (in case you are planning for some heavy cooking). We were able to cook everything we needed anyway :)

Amazing Place for Family Vacation in Santa Barbara
Walking distance to State Street. Highly recommend Handlebar Coffee Roasters for all our fellow coffee addicts. Finally, we felt like celebrities because people would walk by this beautiful property and take pictures because of the unique beauty and architecture

Extremely Spacious!
The apartment is in a great location. We were able to walk to State street in 10 mins. There are 2 reserved parking spots a block away which was also very convenient. The apartment itself is extremely spacious and we appreciated the cleanliness and interior design. Hosts were great at communicating and made our stay enjoyable.

Great Stay In a Great Location
The Jardin was the perfect place for our week in Santa Barbara. It's located a 5 minute walk from State street and an easy drive to all the things we wanted to do. The building is fun and whimsical on the outside. We actually did a walking tour of the architect's other projects and that made us feel even luckier to be staying at the Jardin. Inside was spacious and comfortable. Be aware that there is no oven and only a two burner induction cooktop. That worked for breakfast and we ate out for dinner. Check in and out was super easy. VROSB people were very responsive to emails and accommodating.

Fabulous location for walking all around SB. Exactly as described which is always much appreciated. One bedroom with a queen and bunkbeds, second bedroom with a queen, and sort of a futon cave in the living room. all on the same floor.
